James Taylor began the first tea plantation in Ceylon in 1860 and by the time Ceylon tea started to move out into the world of the great British Empire, we were the pioneers in supplying the tea to all the Worlds capitals. In 1867 our great grand father began a legacy for fine teas which continues till today. Tylos began its packing operation in Colombo the heart of the tea world in 1993 to continue supplying the world with unblended garden fresh teas in tea bags. Tea is an Agricultural Product and therefore absorbs moisture from the time it leaves the plantation. Teas imported in bulk from various origins and then blended and packed in foreign countries normally are months old by the time it is available to the consumer. The long period from the plantation to the consumer render the tea old and tasteless.

Many tea growing Countries now use mechanical harvesting methods to pluck tea leaves. This is done at the expense of quality and flavour.
